Fake News: Home

Why You Need to Fact Check!

Why should I care?

  • Just as gossip spreads through the halls of our school, fake news spreads across the Internet.
  • Fake news can have real consequences. Here is an example.
  • People are shaping their beliefs (political or otherwise) on misleading information. Do you want to be one of them?
  • Employers and colleges are checking social media accounts before hiring or accepting you. If you spread fake news, this could greatly affect your future.
  • If you are going to college, you need to be able to tell the different between fake news and real facts, especially when doing research for your classes.
  • YOUR generation can be the one to stop fake news. Generations before you are more likely to believe what they read, because in the past, news came by newspaper and facts came in books, both of which were edited and had facts checked before publishing. But on the Internet, anything goes!
